Wash and care for socks properly

In this blog post, we give you helpful tips on how to wash and care for your socks properly so that they stay beautiful for longer.

Care instructions for socks and what they mean

Changes to your care routine can help to keep your socks looking good for a long time.

Before removing the product from the packaging, pay particular attention to the care instructions on the back of the packaging. All the important information on caring for the product can be found there.

Below you can see the care symbols that appear most frequently on our socks.

We will briefly explain what these symbols mean.

The tub: symbol for washing

The number shown in the tub answers the following question: At how many degrees can the knitwear actually be washed? The symbol above indicates a maximum machine wash cycle of 30 degrees.

The triangle: symbol for bleaching

If the triangle is crossed out, this means that the textile must not be bleached. Therefore, use a color detergent and avoid textile cleaners that contain bleaching agents. This will keep the colors bright and beautiful.

The square: symbol for drying

If the square with a circle in the middle is crossed out, this means that the textile must not be put in the dryer.

The iron: Symbol for ironing

If the iron is crossed out, the fabric must not be ironed.

The circle: symbol for dry cleaning

If the circle symbol for dry cleaning is crossed out, this means that dry cleaning is not recommended.

In addition to the care symbols, there are other points to consider before washing in the machine.

Tips before washing

Even before the laundry is put in the washing machine, a few tricks can help. Good preparation for the washing process is the key to long-lasting beautiful textiles. Garments should be separated by color and material before washing. This will help you avoid surprises such as discolored or shrunken socks.

Also think about the small details to avoid holes in your socks. Protect your knitted products from sharp objects, whether when wearing or washing them. Avoid contact with sharp toenails or other sharp-edged objects that could damage the delicate knitted fabric. A laundry bag can work wonders to keep pilling and wear to a minimum. Avoid using a tumble dryer, as air-drying keeps high-tech knitwear looking good for longer.

Another simple tip to protect your socks is to turn them inside out before washing. This removes skin residue more efficiently. In addition, the zippers on all items of clothing that are also washed should be closed and turned inside out. This will prevent damage during the washing process.

Wash socks properly

Many people ask themselves the question: can socks be washed together with other clothes? The answer is yes, if the care symbols on all textiles are the same.

Every material requires a certain treatment to preserve its quality and function. Regardless of whether it is cotton, wool, synthetic materials or mixed fabrics, attention should be paid to the choice of washing program and detergent.

Stain remover, bleach or fabric softener are not a good idea for highly developed socks. They fade the colors and damage the fibers. Special color detergents are much better suited to keep the colors fresh for longer.

Sock care after washing

As described above, socks should not be dried in the dryer, but in the air. You can use a clothes horse or washing line, for example. When dry and clean, the pairs of socks can be pulled together so that they are easy to find in the wardrobe.

These simple tricks will keep your favorite socks looking good for longer and make them more comfortable to wear, step by step.
