An innovative project for sustainability
As part of the Texcycle project of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, in cooperation with various research partners, Jacob Rohner AG has dedicated itself to up-cycling used textiles. The aim is to recycle used textiles, such as the robust baker's pants, and transform them into valuable new products.

The path from pants to socks

The used baker's pants are first carefully disassembled into their individual parts and cleaned. Particular care is taken to ensure that all non-textile components, such as labels and fasteners, are removed. This labor-intensive process ensures that the quality of the raw materials meets the high demands of further processing. After dismantling and cleaning, the textiles are finely shredded in a special process. The resulting fibers are then mixed and spun into new yarn. Great importance is attached to the tensile strength and quality of the yarn in order to guarantee the durability of the socks made from it.

From yarn to sock

The recycled yarn obtained in this way is wound onto bobbins and goes into the production of the unique Rohner Socks. Every pair of socks that leaves our factory not only stands for exceptional comfort, but also for a clear commitment to the environment and sustainability.
